10 Step Korean Skincare Using Only Neutrogena

10 Step Korean Skincare Using Only Neutrogena

Neutrogena is the first product I ever remember using, specifically the orange oil free cleanser which now I DO NOT recommend (even if you’re super oily, do not use “oil-free” cleansers!!) We’ve been through thick and thin, fighting hormonal acne and dry skin.

If you’re even reading this, you have probably heard of the brand or the recently popularized 10 Korean skincare routine. The focus of the routine is to incorporate hydrating products that not only helps your moisture barrier, but keeps your skin glowing. You’re probably thinking “10 steps?! I barely do 3!!” Same girl, same. It’s not necessary to do every step every single day and there’s a difference between the morning and night routine. Of course this entire post will only be Neutrogena and drugstore products, so every night use of these products won’t hurt your wallet! Also, if you’ve ever wondered what the proper way to layer products is, then keep on reading!

Before we get started, here are some skin care tips to keep in mind!

  • Cleanse for approximately 60 seconds in circular motions. Trust me, a whole minute makes a difference!
  • You can layer on products back to back, there is no evidence that suggests waiting 5 minutes between products increases absorption rates.
  • Pat your products in, don’t rub!

Step 1: Wash with water Cleanser – Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel

Listen, I know that the first step is to wash your face with water and I’m sure that works for some people, but personally it just gives me a peace of mind knowing that I got rid of all the impurities that accumulated on my face and from my pillowcase in the night. You can personalize this routine to meet your needs and if you’re like me, you can cleanse if you want!

Step 2: Toner – Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner

Use a cotton pad and upwards strokes with this toner all over your face.

Step 3: Essence

Unfortunately, Neutrogena doesn’t have an essence :(. However, all an essence essentially is is a combination of a serum and a toner, which are already included in this routine so you should be fine without it if you’re just starting out.

Step 4: Ampoule & Serum – Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum

Serums are made up of tiny particles, meaning that they can deeply penetrate the skin and deliver results you can’t get with a simple moisturizer. They target dullness, hyperpigmentation and wrinkles.

Step 5: Eye Cream – Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Gel Eye Cream

Can you tell I love the Hydro Boost brand? Apply this around your eye, you don’t need a lot as a little goes a long way. Even though “applying your eye cream with your ring finger because it’s the most gentle finger” is a myth, I still like to use it.

Step 6: Moisturizer – Neutrogena Hydro Boost gel-cream

I use a q-tip to apply this to my face as I don’t like dipping my fingers into anything I use repeatedly. Everything in this line has hyaluronic acid which hydrates and helps repair your moisture barrier. I swear by this moisturizer for curing the dry and cracked skin I got during the winter months.

Step 7: Sunscreen – Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion SPF 50

Never leave your house without it! I don’t care if it’s raining, snowing, hailing, thunderstorm-ing. Wear your spf! This is one of the few drugstore sunscreens I can actually wear that does not give a white cast (the Ultra-Sheer makes me and everyone I know who has used it look like a ghost, I’m sorry that product ain’t it.)

Step 1: Oil Cleanser – Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil

Oil cleansers are great because they remove all the dirt and grime from the air and makeup.

Step 2: Cleanser – Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel

This is the same Cleanser you use in the morning. Double-cleansing is essential in making sure that your face is free of any extra residue.

Step 3: Exfoliate – Neutrogena Hydro Boost Exfoliating Cleanser

Exfoliating every day can be too harsh for your skin, so twice a week is enough to remove any dead skin.

Step 4: Toner – Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner

Same as in the morning, use a cotton pad and use upward strokes to prevent wrinkles!

Step 5: Essence – e.l.f. Hydrating Coconut Mist

I mentioned before that Neutrogena doesn’t have an Essence, so I’m going to break the rules a little bit and recommend the e.l.f. Hydrating Coconut Mist! e.l.f not only has reasonably inexpensive makeup, but they recently came out with a skin care line. (I am currently trying out some of their products I will post a review when I finish them, stay tuned!)

Step 6: Ampoule & Serum – Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum

Same as before, apply and dab this into your skin.

Step 7: Sheet Mask – Hydro Boost Hydrating 100% Hydrogel Mask

Personally, this is my favorite part of the routine. I love putting on a good sheet mask, laying down and listening to an e-book or youtube video. Keep this on for 20 minutes in order for your skin to absorb the maximum amount of ingredients! I also recommend these if you want to buy in bulk!

Step 8: Eye Cream – Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Gel Eye Cream

Are you as tired as I am yet? We’re almost done hang in there. Apply this under your eyes, a pea sized amount for both eyes will suffice!

Step 9: Moisturizer – Neutrogena Hydro Boost gel-cream

Apply the moisturizer to your entire face and let your skin get the maximum hydration benefits overnight!

Step 10: Night Cream Neutrogena Deep Moisture Night Cream

This moisturizer contains Vitamin D3 and Glycerin, two key ingredients that aid skin’s moisture level and hydrate.

That’s it! Keep in mind, you don’t have to follow every step to a T, for example, if you’re more concerned about hyperpigmentation, focus on moisturizers and serums, etc. You don’t have to do all the steps every single day, so if you’re exhausted one night and just want to hit the sack, I do recommend using a cleanser, serum and moisturizer!

I hope you guys enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it! All products listed here I have personally used and bought with my own money, so everything is my honest review. There are some products that I do not like from Neutrogena but I have greatly benefited from the Hydro Boost line and highly recommend it for anyone who has extremely to moderate dry skin.
