The Ordinary Products That Are Actually Worth It.

The Ordinary Products That Are Actually Worth It.

My Favorite The Ordinary Products (2022)

One thing about me…I love a good affordable product. I was never one of those people who believed if something is more expensive it works better especially since a lot of high end brands also make drugstore affordable products. But that’s a conversation for another day. Today’s conversation is about The Ordinary and some of my favorite products.

For reference: I have combo skin that gets oily in the summer and dry in the winter. My most common problems I face when it comes to my skin is dullness and hyperpigmentation. I rarely get breakouts now ever since I started skin cycling, but before the hyperpigmentation pimples left would last months. These are some products that helped me with those problems!

All time faves (aka products I've used for years that have worked time and time again)

1 – Azelaic Acid

If I could only ever use one TO product it would be this one. Azelaic Acid works by killing bacteria on your skin. Whenever I use this at night the next morning my skin is always bright and there’s no dullness. It also helps a lot with hyperpigmentation.

2 – AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

Since I do skin cycling, I haven’t been using this as much, what I would use once a week before I now use once a month. I love this peel because it’s great if your skin is sensitive since you wash it off. If you are looking for a chemical exfoliating product to start off with I’d go with this one!

3 – Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

As someone who forgets to drink enough water during the day, I thank this serum for making my skin not look as dehydrated as it probably is. Caution when using this though as you need to apply it onto wet skin and apply enough moisture on top of it or it could actually dry your skin (HA holds up 1,000 times its own weight in water isn’t that crazy?!).

I have a post about how to I use Hyaluronic Acid to get glass skin which involves using a spray bottle you can read that post here.

4 – Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

I have a whole post about using Glycolic Acid for your armpits and I also mentioned in my skin cycling post that I alternate between this and Paula’s Choice Exfoliator. 7% seems high for an exfoliating product but this has been extremely gentle on my skin.

5 – The Ordinary Buffet

This one is a bit more pricier than other TO products but it’s for good reason. Buffet is a peptide serum. From their website it says it will “reduce fine lines & wrinkles, fade dark spots, hydrate and promote a firm, smooth texture” and honestly…they weren’t lying. This is like getting a 5 in 1 product and it’s definitely worth the splurge.

Overall I highly recommend trying out at least one The Ordinary product because it’s an amazing affordable brand and all of their products last a while. I hope this was helpful to anyone who experiences dull skin and hyperpigmentation!
